PLANNED ITINERARY

San Vito al Torre - FVG in motion 10 thousand steps of health

LENGTH

7750 meters

The route forms a triangle that includes Jalmicco, San Vito al Torre, and Nogaredo. The triangle has some secondary segments: to access the route, a short segment is taken from Jalmicco, a long stretch goes outside the triangle to include Visco, another short segment leads to the inhabited area of San Vito al Torre, and another short stretch leads to a rest area.

The starting point, where the explanatory sign of the 10,000 steps FVG is located, is next to the small church of the Queen of Victory and Peace in Jalmicco. There are no dedicated parking spaces. Since the road is peripheral, it is possible to park next to the church or in nearby areas.

Proceed by following the nearby arrow (photo 1) on the paved road that goes from the church towards the fields (photo 2). After passing the last houses, less than 200 meters from the start, the paved road is left to switch to a dirt road (photo 3), where there is a fork from which it is possible to take either direction, as indicated by the green arrows (photo 4). Proceed to the right, towards San Vito al Torre.

After about a hundred meters from the fork, a treatment plant is on the side. In this stretch, the dirt road has fine and medium gravel. This means that during rainy periods, large puddles can form, making the path difficult to navigate.

After about 600 meters from the start, the road is lined with rows of mulberry trees.

After 1.1 km from the start, you reach the fork that leads towards Visco. It is the longest segment that goes outside the triangular route towards San Vito al Torre, which will be resumed by returning along the same segment.

The road, with a natural surface, is initially lined with trees. It has a rugged and uneven surface with the presence of stones. Fields alternate with wooded areas (photo 5,6,7).

About 2 km from the start and less than 900 m from the junction, the road makes a brief double curve (photo 8). You reach the paved road, bordered by the aqueduct wall (this is the side road of via delle Acque) (photo 9,10). You continue alongside a canal, then cross it to the right over a bridge and head towards the center of Visco (photo 11).

For a short stretch, you ascend on a sidewalk with a curb 10 cm high until you reach via delle Acque, which you need to cross.

Carefully crossing via delle Acque, which is curved, has high traffic, and lacks a pedestrian crossing, you follow the edge of the road until you reach a sidewalk, in front of the houses (photo 12,13).

To reach the vicinity of the town center of Visco, where the information panel of the 10,000 steps FVG is located (photos 14,15), it is necessary to cross a road without crossings and without pedestrian ramps (photo 16).

At this point, 2.6 km from the start and 1.5 km from the junction, to resume the triangular route it is necessary to go back along the same road.

Once back on the main triangular circuit (road between Jalmicco and San Vito, junction for Visco after traveling 4.1 km the detour for Visco is 3 km in total), you take the right towards San Vito al Torre. The route has numerous puddles that invade the dirt road for almost its entire width (photos 17,18).

At 5 km from the start, you pass alongside a cemented area with a large perimeter fence where you can glimpse the shape of a bear.

At 5.2 km from the start, you arrive at a junction corresponding to one of the corners of the triangle. A small detour is made until reaching the town center of San Vito al Torre. You then reach the sign indicating the beginning of the inhabited area and the paved road (photos 19-20), quickly reaching the central area of the village.

You head back (photo 23-24), towards the corner of the triangular circuit, which leads to Nogaredo. It is a wide dirt road, partially shaded by trees (photo 25).

After 700 m, at km 6.5 from the start, you reach a junction that leads to a equipped rest area (photo 26). The road has a natural surface that is uneven in places. After 300 m, you reach the large hackberry tree and the equipped area with a bench and a trash bin (photo 27).

You return towards the main circuit (photo 28) in the direction of Nogaredo (photos 29-30). At 7.8 km from the start, you cross a bridge over a wide canal (photo 31), where the first houses of the village can be seen (photo 32).

At 8.2 km from the start, you enter the paved road, marked by the presence of the green arrow, at the first houses of the village of Nogaredo (photo 33). The road is without a sidewalk but has little traffic. You reach the main road, cross to the left and stay on the left on the sidewalk (photo 34) for about 50 m. Subsequently, upon reaching the corner of the circuit, at 8.5 km from the start, you turn left again (photo 35) to leave Nogaredo. You return to a dirt road and, as indicated by the green arrow, follow the signs for Jalmicco.

For a stretch, the dirt road is bordered by a ditch (photo 36) until it reaches a bridge that crosses the canal (photo 37) at 8.7 km from the start. You continue towards the large Terna pole (photo 38) and after 9 km from the start, you arrive at a grassy, open stretch, with fields on both sides (photo 39). During the route, a few trees and two rustic buildings in a state of abandonment appear (photo 40). At 10.7 km from the start, you reach the external junction at Jalmicco, closing the large loop of the circuit (photo 41). You then retrace the initial stretch back to the small church (photo 42).
