PLANNED ITINERARY

Tricesimo - FVG in motion 10 thousand steps of health

LENGTH

3520 meters

The information panel of the 10,000 steps FVG is located in Tricesimo in the parking lot of Piazza Ellero (near the Town Hall) (Photo 1,2).

You start from the parking lot and briefly descend towards via dei Caduti (Photo 3-4).

Following the indications on the map, it is understood that the route leads to a covered walkway that allows direct access to the park (Parco Atleti Azzurri d’Italia). This is not possible as the entrance is closed by a gate and not accessible to the public. Therefore, you continue along via dei Caduti until the publicly accessible entrance of the park Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, where the route is resumed (Photo 5-6).

On via dei Caduti, the sidewalk runs first in front of houses and shops and then next to a wall. The sidewalk narrows at times to the point of having to continue on the road. To get from the sidewalk to the park, it is possible to either use stairs right after the wall or further ahead, in front of the cemetery, there is another barrier-free entrance. (Photo 7-8)

You enter the park and follow the map on a natural surface path until you reach a long staircase that allows you to climb the small hill (Photo 9-10)

After tackling the staircase, you reach, at the highest point of the modest hill, the church of San Pietro in Zucco. (Photo 11-12)

The path continues downhill on a cobblestone avenue that ends on via 4 Novembre (a paved road with modest traffic flow, lacking sidewalks) (Photo 13-14)

After following the path, turn left onto via 4 Novembre. Although still very close to the urban center, the road crosses an unexpectedly green and natural environment. (Photo 15)

Via 4 Novembre ends at via del Castello which continues to the right uphill. (Photo 16)

Since the direction to take is not clear from the map and there are no indicator signs, you follow the uphill road (with a slope exceeding 10%) making a hairpin turn in view of the castle (Photo 17-18, Photo 19-20)

The path goes between the Valentinis Castle and the House of Spiritual Exercises (Madonna Missionaria) and, after circling the Castle, descends on a dirt path with a somewhat irregular surface and a considerable slope (over 10%) (Photo 21-22-23).

You exit again onto the paved 4 Novembre street, not far from the exit of the San Pietro in Zucco church, to go left (Photo 24-25-26)

You continue along a long stretch characterized by vegetation. In some areas there are meadows and woods and on the left the Castle is still visible. Further ahead, you make a wide curve to the right and ascend to another modest height where there is a small group of houses (Photo 27-28-29).

Upon reaching the top of the road, we proceed downhill towards Adorgnano (Photo 30)

We cross the main road, via Cividale, which leads to Tricesimo, where we slightly turn right and then take a left onto via Ognissanti, still going downhill (Photo 31-32) towards the end of the route, passing first through piazza Adorgnano and finally onto via San Pelagio at the “Parco della Braida Locatelli” (parking and information panel) (Photo 33-34-35).
