In recent years, Muggia has also become the first Dementia-Friendly Community recognized in Friuli Venezia Giulia. From this initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Muggia, ASUGI, and the Goffredo de Banfield Associative Foundation, the Gentle Itinerary was born: a map of sensitive and welcoming places, designed to be more attentive to people with dementia and their families. The itinerary is intended for residents and visitors and can become a useful guide for organizing a more serene and cognitively accessible day. Those arriving from Trieste can start their journey from the sea, using the Delfino Verde connection. The route to Muggia allows you to observe the Gulf from a different perspective and to turn the journey into a pleasant part of the day. The staff of the Delfino Verde has been trained in the Dementia Friendly Community, so they are prepared to welcome people with dementia.
Once you arrive, the historic center is suitable for a short and flexible walk. Piazza Marconi, the nearby streets, the waterfront, and the small views of the port allow for a simple route to be built. The Muggia Infopoint of PromoTurismoFVG, part of the Gentile Itinerary network, can be a good reference point to ask for updated information and to orient yourself during the visit.
The cultural aspect can make the day even more interesting: the Ugo Carà Modern Art Museum houses a collection dedicated to the sculptor and designer from Muggia, with works that allow visitors to approach the artistic history of the city in a cozy space suitable for a short visit. Another unique proposal is the Beethoveniana House Museum Library, born from the Carrino Collection: a collection dedicated to the myth of Beethoven, with historical, artistic, and musical materials that tell the composer's story from an original perspective.
For those who want an experience more connected to the landscape and history, and have a means of transport available, Muggia Vecchia can be an option to consider for a walk. The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta and the Archaeological Park tell the oldest origins of the territory.
