Lignano Sabbiadoro - The path of thought
LENGTH
2353 meters
Section 1 - Departure from the parking lot (photo 1), at the end of Corso dei Continenti, located before the nautical center.
The parking lot, with uneven surface made of interlocking bricks and gravel, accommodates about ten stalls partially shaded by domestic pines and è the same from which the path “At the mouth of the Tagliamento” begins.
Crossing Corso dei Continenti, at the pedestrian crossings near the stop (photo 2), one continues along the curve, staying on the edge of the paved road until the next pedestrian crossing (photo 3). It is not possible to use the sidewalk next to the parking lot because it is inaccessible due to the presence of a vertical sign pole in the middle of the passage (photo 1).
Section 2 - After crossing, continue on the bike path along Viale Adriatico for about 80 meters (photo 4) until Calle Goethe (photo 5).
The path is shaded and the pavement is asphalt. On the right side, a raised concrete curb serves as a separation from the road, while on the left side, there are the fences of the houses.
Section 3 - Turn left into calle Goethe: è a dead-end road, short, without sidewalks and bike lanes. After a slight initial slope, there is a metal gutter for rainwater collection (photo 6) that can be easily crossed. The pavement è asphalt, at the beginning and end of the road it is raised in several points due to the roots of the trees in the adjacent gardens (photos 7 and 8). On the sides, there are low walls or hedges delimiting the houses, on the right side there are low light poles. The path \"The Path of Thought\" proper begins at the end of the road with an asphalt junction and to its right the entrance to the parking lot of the Althea condominium (photo 9).
Section 4 - This è one of the entrances to the Path of Thought but there are no signs indicating it. The section è made of compacted concrete and gravel.
On the right, there is a hedge placed at a lower level than the path, with a defined height difference marked by a curb, as on the left where we also find low lamps on the grassy surface. After a few meters, there is a fork with 3 branches (photo 10). Continue to the right, the path è winding and immersed in the pine forest among the residential buildings (photo 11). On the sides of the path, there is grassy surface and on the left, there is a wooden seat with a metal armrest in the center, lacking a backrest and set back from the path. There is no accessible path to reach it (photo 12).
After about 30 meters, there is a first challenging ascent with a slope greater than 8% (photo 13) and a corresponding descent (photo 14), followed by a second ascent with a slope of about 10% (photo 15). The ground è compact earth with curbs of different materials on the sides. On the right, there is a bench on the grassy surface, set back 1 meter from the path (photo 16). Continuing along the path (photo 17), you pass by a third bench on the left (photo 18). The path ends at a traffic calming device made of metal placed in the center of the path, with two metal posts and two horizontal crossbars about 1.5 meters wide and 1 meter high to signal the intersection with the road (photo 19).
Section 5 - After passing the traffic calming device, you cross Corso delle Nazioni, being careful that on both sides there is an asphalt bike lane bordered by a concrete block curb about 1 meter wide and a step of 2 centimeters. The pedestrian crossing (photo 20) is overall accessible.
Section 6 - The Path of Thought, after passing the barrier placed in the center to prevent the passage of motor vehicles and a bin on the right, continues immersed in the pine forest with compact pavement. On the right, we are welcomed by a circular metal totem with a phrase attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci (photo 21).
Subsequently, on the right, we find a bench, similar to the previous ones, while on the left are the streetlights (photo 22).
Continuing, we encounter a steep ascent (recommended only for motorized wheelchairs or with a companion), then another bench and low lighting fixtures on the left. At the fork, slightly uphill and near a bench (photo 23), we continue straight and then turn slightly left, a section bordered by the hedges of private gardens on the left and a grassy area with a curb on the right. We then encounter a barrier placed in the center of the walkway, indicating the intersection with Viale della Scultura (photo 24).
Section 7 - After passing the barrier, a sidewalk is crossed, on the right there are garbage bins, then crossing Viale della Scultura on pedestrian crossings (photo 25). The pedestrian crossing is accessible even though the first part has a slight height difference next to the sidewalk, due to a drainage channel, while it is level on the opposite side.
Section 8 - After passing the barrier, on the left we find a metal bin (photo 26) and after a few meters a bench, while on the right there is high lighting (photo 27).
This path, immersed in the pine forest, initially grassy, becomes compact and well passable. However, the delimitation of the side curb is missing, buried by vegetation.
Subsequently, we find a slight ascent preceded by a high boundary hedge of private property and the presence of loose stones on the right (photo 28).
Afterwards, the path is made difficult due to roots emerging from the ground for about 10 meters (photo 29).
Continue past the fork to the right (photo 29), then proceed along the path with grass on the sides and a bench and lighting fixtures on the left.
At the second fork, located on top of a rise, continue straight after which there is an ascent of about 15% and a slight descent to be tackled only if accompanied. After about 50 meters, on the right we find a bench (photo 30) and then another slight ascent and corresponding descent. Near the intersection with Viale dell'Industria, we find a barrier placed in the center of the path (photo 31).
Section 9 - Since the section within the pine forest located after the pedestrian crossing is not accessible, the route continues turning right using the bike path until the end of via dell’Industria, at the level of Bagno 4 (photo 32). The bike path is asphalted, free of bumps, and illuminated.
Section 10 - The pedestrian crossing is at the same level and leads to the cycle-pedestrian path of Lungomare Riccardo Riva (photo 33). Continue left on the cycle-pedestrian path of Lungomare Riva (photo 34), separated from the road only by a continuous yellow line, while on the right there is a grassy area with lighting on tall poles (photo 35).
You arrive at the entrance of Bagno 3 where a level pedestrian crossing leads to the other side of Lungomare Riva (photo 36).
Section 11 - After the crossing, on the left we find two parking spaces parallel to the road, reserved for people with disabilities (photo 37).
For about 15 meters from the opposite side of the road, there is only a dirt path until reaching the entrance of the pine forest at the location of a parking meter (photo 38). Between the asphalt of the road and the dirt section, there is a 3 cm height difference.
Section 12 - The Path of Thought continues under the pine forest after the parking meter on the left, a tall bin on the right and in the center a wooden barrier. Shortly after, we find on the left a round totem with a quote from Schubert (photo 39). The path is compact and bordered with concrete curbs on the sides (photo 40). At the fork, continue to the right until a portal with a column structure indicating the intersection with Viale della Musica (photo 41).
Section 13 - The crossing begins at the portal made up of 9 columns in light gray concrete arranged in two rows, with a diameter of about 40 centimeters and a spacing of 2 meters (photo 42) with porphyry pavement. The pedestrian passage is accessible with two slight changes in height of 2 and 3 cm. Crossed Viale della Musica, we find again porphyry sidewalks and the colonnaded portal (photo 43).
The passage between the two central columns under the structure has a protruding root that makes it difficult to pass through independently (photo 44), which can be avoided by moving to the right or left of the two central columns.
Section 14 - The Path continues with a bin and lighting on the right, enhanced by a circular metal totem with a quote from Bach. On both sides of the path è there is grass cover, only on the initial part on the right there is a hedge with a hotel structure (photo 45).
After a few dozen meters, there is a picnic area, consisting of two benches and a wooden table, on grass not connected to the main path by a trail (photo 46). At the first intersection, continue straight, after which the lighting alternates on both sides (photo 47). After a slight rise, the lighting moves to the right side; after the first lamp post, we find a bench with a backrest.
At the second fork, turn left and face a slight ascent (photo 48).
At the third intersection, take the left path encountering on the right a bench with a backrest (photo 49).
At the end, turn left again, we find a bench with a backrest and subsequently, in the middle of the lawn on the right, we find two more benches with a table positioned in the center (photo 50).
At the end of the section, we find in the middle of the path a wooden bollard about one meter high (photo 51).
Section 15 - Near the parking lot for about 10 meters, the path with paving stones is uneven, probably due to tree roots that have lifted the pavement (photo 52).
