PLANNED ITINERARY

Lignano Sabbiadoro - In the scent of resin

LENGTH

3127 meters

The path begins at the intersection between Lungomare Alberto Kechler and Lungomare Riccardo Riva, where the Kursaal Club is also located and the beach establishments "Ufficio Spiaggia" begin, all connected to each other by a panoramic raised walkway, which è accessible only by stairs or lifts, usable only in summer until 7 PM. The establishments are equipped with accessible toilets.

For the first stretch, the bike path and sidewalk are separated by oleander hedges, with bikes having their own lane protected by a yellow line on the ground. The pavement of the pedestrian path è asphalt and is in excellent condition. The cross slope is about 1% and the width is adequate. Towards the sea, the path is bordered by a containment wall useful as a natural guiding line for the visually impaired.

On the other side of the road, there are parking spaces - some of which are reserved - and to reach them there are pedestrian crossings, some of which are raised but all lacking tactile guidance signage.

The path is served by local public transport with a stop on the street.

Near the roundabout, the path becomes a shared bike and pedestrian path with separation only by a line on the ground, between the pedestrian sidewalk and the bike lane.

At the roundabout of Viale a Mare, the path becomes a shared bike and pedestrian path and maintains an adequate width; here there are some access points to the viewpoint of Piazza Marcello d'Olivo that allows access to the beach.

Further ahead is the Renzo bridge, also elevated and accessible only by stairs/elevator, with an’opening that allows access to a platform over the sea.

The first stretch ends at Ufficio Spiaggia n.7 and continues on Via dei Giardini.

There is the possibility, continuing along the Lungomare, to access a stretch of state-owned land granted to GE TUR that crosses the pine forests and is open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

This path connects the promenade and the pine forest of Ge TUR.  In this section, the bike path is separated from the sidewalk by rust-colored metal posts that also serve as lighting. The surface of the pedestrian path is made of porphyry cubes laid in a herringbone pattern. The adjacent pedestrian path is separated by a series of pedestrian barriers that also function as lighting. There are also street lamps.

Generally, the maintenance of the porphyry cubes is good, except for a few short sections where there are unevennesses due to protruding roots.

This second section does not have seating.

This third section features a pedestrian path on one side, 3 meters wide, with a concrete block surface that simulates the porphyry laid in a herringbone pattern, while on the opposite side there is a bike lane. The low wall of the fence separating the sidewalk from the pine forest serves as a good natural guide line for pedestrians. The pedestrian crossings are equipped with tactile paving signals for the visually impaired.

The path is served by the local public transport line, the stops have a shelter, seating, and a night lighting system.

Continuing, the surface of the pedestrian path is made of compacted concrete and is generally in good condition; at some points, the expansion joints show some discontinuities, especially near the small church of Santa Maria del Mare.

In the central part of the path, there is the entrance to the GE TUR village.

The path concludes -or begins- by returning towards the sea, near the roundabout between Viale Centrale and Via Sabbiadoro.
