DEPARTURE

In the bottom of the dock 'Porto Vecchio' near the old solitary 'Casone'

The path is approximately 4 km long. It starts at the farthest point of the Darsena “Porto Vecchio”, near the old solitary “Casone”, proceeds entirely along the embankment, and ends near the Collection Center - Ecopiazzola of the Municipality.

The starting point is characterized by the presence of numerous parking spaces for cars (Photo 1), some reserved for people with disabilities (Photo 2); there is also a fitness area equipped.

A short concrete ramp, with negligible slope, leads to the cycle-pedestrian path (Photo 3).

Next to the ramp, there is the information board for the 10,000 steps path “In the colors of the sunset” (Photo 4).

The path is on natural terrain, with a limestone gravel surface; in the first section, to protect pedestrians, there are wooden fences on both sides of the path. The width of the cycle-pedestrian area is about 2 meters and the surface is accessible even for people using wheelchairs (Photo 5).

About 70 meters from the beginning of the path, a small resting area with brick and limestone benches has been created (Photo 6). After passing this area, the interruption of the wooden barrier on the right side (the one facing the Marano lagoon) is noticeable, while on the left side the fence continues almost uninterrupted, only interrupted at the slopes leading down to the road below and the houses located to the left of the embankment (Photo 7 and Photo 8).

At approximately km 0.490 from the start, the first indicator sign of the FVG path in motion is present (Photo 10).

At km 0.580 on the side of the path facing the lagoon, it is possible to access a long wooden pier, supported by posts, which extends over the sea and allows reaching a platform from which to observe the landscape and marine avifauna (Photo 11).

After passing the observation point, from km 0.770 the path continues maintaining its initial characteristics (Photo 12) until km 1.100 where there is a second indicator sign (Photo 13).

At km 1.120 there is a small bridge with a concrete surface and negligible slope (Photo 14), after which there is a fork; the indicator sign for 10,000 steps suggests continuing the path up on the embankment, protected on the left side by a wooden fence (Photo 15).

The wooden fence protecting the path (Photo 16) has light points, positioned on wooden posts about 15 meters apart, which illuminate the path in the evening and night hours (Photo 17).

At km 1.590 on the left side of the path, there is an access point with a concrete staircase that allows descent to the road below (Photo 18).

At km 2.030, the path intersects the descending ramp that allows visiting the church of S. Zaccaria (Photo 19). Continuing along the embankment, in this stretch the view towards the lagoon is obscured by dense thickets of tamarisks (Photo 20 and Photo 21).

An opening in the vegetation of the embankment, lagoon side, allowed us to observe some swans (Photo 22).

Until km 2.430, the path runs parallel to the underlying Lungolaguna Trento road; at this point in the route è there is a descending ramp that leads to the aforementioned road. The indicator sign invites you to continue straight on the embankment (Photo 23).

After a’wide curve (Photo 24), at about km 3.000 from the start, the route runs alongside the Lignano Cemetery; in this stretch, there is a massive concrete curb on the right side of the path (Photo 25).

At km 3.050, there is an indicator sign for the FVG route in motion (Photo 26), where you can notice, on the left, a descending ramp that leads near the Pumping Station.

At km 3.150 from the start, there is another indicator sign with the arrow pointing in the opposite direction to the direction of travel, indicating the probable reversibility of the route (Photo 27).

At km 3.500, after a wide curve (Photo 28), there is another indicator sign for the FVG path in motion (Photo 29).

At km 4.030 from the start, the 10,000 steps path "In the colors of the sunset" in Lignano ends where both the information board and the indicator sign are located (Photo 30, Photo 31, and Photo 32).

The return to the parking lot is done by retracing the route taken, in the opposite direction.
